City of Huntsville Athletic Facilities

Multi-Purpose Sports Complexes
Richard Showers Center Located in Northwest Huntsville on Blue Spring Road, this newly renovated center encompasses many sports facilties including baseball, softball, football, soccer, swimming, and a basketball/volleyball gymnasium as well as outdoor basketball courts. Local College Alabama A&M practices softball here. Milton Frank Stadium Located in Southwest Huntsville on Ivy Street, this serves as the primary football stadium for city high school football games. It is also the site of high school and various other track meets. Joe Davis Stadium Built in the Mid 1980's, Joe Davis Stadium is the home field for the Huntsville Stars, a Milwaukee Brewers AA farm team. It is also used as a football field for various high school teams during the season. Basketball/Volleyball Gymnasiums
Eastside Gym Located in downtown Huntsville on Dallas Street, this gym has been in service since the 1940's. It is the home gym of the Nooner's basketball league that has been going on for over 35 years. Free play for the public is available. Berachah Gym Located in northwest Huntsville on Sparkman Drive, this gym used to be part of Berachah Academy, a private school that closed in the 1980's. It is the home gym of the Men's City League basketball as well as an adult volleyball league. Free play for the public is available. Scruggs Recreation Center Located in downtown Huntsville near the Von Braun Center and the Huntsville Public Library, this center contains a basketball gym and weight/workout room. Northeast Recreation Center Located in northeast Huntsville near the intersection of Oakwood Avenue and Andrew Jackson Way, this brand new facility has two full size basketball/volleyball gymnasiums. There is also a recreation room with table games and a treadmill. Free play for the public is available. Stoner Park Located in Northwest Huntsville on Stringfield Road, this sports complex sports numerous baseball/softball fields as well as a large football/soccer field and outdoor tennis courts. Tennis Facilities
Huntsville Tennis Center Located in Southwest Huntsville at Brahan Springs off of Drake Avenue, this public facility is available for use during non-league hours. Running Facilities
Huntsville Cross Country Course Located in Southwest Huntsville at the old airport, south of Airport Road, this 3 mile cross country course is open to the public. The Huntsville Track Club holds various events here. It also plays host to High School cross country meets. Swimming Facilities
Williams Aquatic Center Located in downtown Huntsville on Monroe Street near the Von Braun Center and the Huntsville Public Library, this public pool maintains a water temperature of approximately 90 degrees and is fully handicapped accesible. Swim classes, aqua aerobics, aquatic exercise, and lifeguard courses are offered.
