Please check here often for the latest news about running and the HTC.  Updates will be posted here on a regular basis to keep you up to date on the latest information concerning our club.  If you have a news item that other HTC members might like to see please contact David Purinton to have it posted.  The HTC reserves the right to limit the items posted on our site.  Thanks.

HTC Twilight 5K Race Course Change – Please remember that this year's HTC Twilight 5K course was not certified and therefore is not eligible for state records.  We apologize for the inconveneice.  If you have any questions please contact Ashley Cain (533-9977).  Thanks.

Congratulations to Harold Tinsley – Harold Tinsley has been selected to receive the 2006 RRCA Sprit of Browning Ross Award.  This award was created to honor the memory of the RRCA’s founder, Browning Ross, who died in April 1998. The award honors a club member who is an unsung hero. These are the people who champion the RRCA tirelessly and enthusiastically, but prefer to stay in the background, letting others bask in the spotlight, just as Browning did. I think we all can agree that Harold is a very worthwhile recipient of this award.  You can read the nomination letter here.  Congratulations Harold.

HTC Annual Awards Banquet – The Annual HTC Awards Banquet was a great event.  It gave us an opportunity to thank many volunteers without whom our club would not function.  If you could not attend the event please read the award presentations (click here) to see how much some of our club members are doing so that you can run on race day.  And please consider volunteering your own time so that our club can continue to prosper.  Thanks.

The HTC and FleetFeetSports Huntsville are teaming up to recycle shoes.  The new program is replacing the Shoe Amnesty program previously undertaken by the HTC.  This new program will place gently used shoes (any shoes, not just running shoes) in the hands of people in need of shoes.  This program will be feeding shoes to the group Soles for Souls.  Shoes will be collected at FleetFeetSports Huntsville but will not be collected at races anymore.

Do you run in Decatur?  If so please check out this important info on trails that need help to be saved.

HTC Hats – If you are interested in purchasing a Coolmax running hat with the HTC logo, perfect for those hot weather runs, please contact Beth Edwards at 256-420-8162 or larse@hiwaay.net

Volunteer to work an HTC Race.  HTC races rely on our members, their families, and others to conduct our events.  If you have never volunteered at a race or would like to again please contact a race director.  The alternative is fewer races.

Are you interested in HTC Apparel?  If you have comments, suggestions, etc please contact Beth Edwards.

Do you like to talk to people?  Are you interested in helping the HTC gain new members?  Consider volunteering to staff a membership table at HTC events.  Contact David Purinton for more information.
